THE CALL FOR REFERENDUM! CAMEROON GOVERNMENT'S LAST CARD?

Seven years into the war in Cameroon, the Cameroon government is yet to look for a concrete solution to end the war in the Southern Cameroon with thousands of people being displaced from their communities and thousands of lives being lost as a result of the war, many are beginning to ask the question if the Cameroon government really have what it takes to provide solutions for the crisis. Many people I also questioning why very little support is being gotten from the French speaking part of Cameroon since the war started. Others are also questioning if the war was to be in the French part of Cameroon will the government have also shown such a laissez-faire attitude toward ending the war.

Very little of what is happening in the southern Cameroon is not being covered by the French media as a result most French speaking Cameroonians know absolutely nothing or very little  of what is happening in the English speaking part of Cameroon, the atrocities being committed as a result of the war.

One of the most forgetful impact of the war in Cameroon is that it has not  only expose the difference between the way people in the French speaking part of Cameroon are treated by the government and those of the English speaking part of Cameroon. some Cameroonians are also asking the question if Cameroon would ever be able to remain as one country? This is a question which can only be answered not by any government no by the international community who have deliberately  remain silence in the mist of many killings and massacre going on in the Cameroons.

One group of people that have always been forgotten  in the midst of this war are the common Cameroonians who neither belong to the government nor the separatist and therefore it's time the government start listening to the opinion of the common man.  This can only be done  by organizing a united nation supervise referendum whereby the people of southern Cameroon will be allow to make the choice if they want to live as one Cameroon or to have their own separate state of Southern Cameroon (Ambazonia).

By this, the opinion of every citizen in the Southern Cameroon will be considered, including those asking for federation, configuration  or even a unity state.  Not only will this solve the problem but the voice of every southern Cameroonian would have been heard and also the numerous killing will also come to an end not forgetting the thousands of young children not being able to go to school because their schools might have been burn as a result of this war. Children will be able to go back to school .

If they lives of Cameroonians really matter to the government of Cameroon it's high time the government starts listening to the people because there can be no government without the people and also no country and the people being killed today are the future of Cameroon. Giving the people a referendum will not be a defeat to the government but rather will simply show that the government is that which listen to its people. This may be coming too late after the death of many innocent Cameroonians both on the side of the military, the separatists as well as innocence Cameroonians. Like it's usually said it is better late than never.
