WHAT AFRICAN NATIONS SHOULD LEARN FROM THE LIBERIAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Image
The recent presidential election in Liberia has been a topic of discussion in many African countries. Elected incumbent George Weah conceded defeat to opposition leader Joseph Boakai after a hotly contested presidential election. The election has been hailed as a victory for democracy in Africa, and other African countries can learn a lot from the election. One of the main takeaways from the election is the importance of holding peaceful elections. Liberia has experienced a lot of violence in the past, including two civil wars in 1989 and 2003, and an Ebola outbreak that killed thousands between 2013 and 2016. Despite all this, the country was able to hold peaceful elections, a testament to the resilience of the Liberian people .
