Nigerian court sentence man to death by hanging for killing job seeker.

 An Akwa Ibom State High Court has sentenced Uduak Akpan to death by hanging for the murder of Iniubong Umoren.

Justice Bassey Nkanang of the state High Court has the verdict on Thursday.


Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo, was raped, killed, and buried in a shallow grave on April 2021. She was job hunting while awaiting mobilization for the compulsory NYSC scheme.



Akpan lured the 26 years old girl to his house claiming he had a job offer for her.


Akpan attempted to escape shortly after the sentence was announced by the trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang, on Thursday.
