Cameroonian army denies report on army’s abuses by Human rights watch

  The Ministry of Defence  said on Wednesday that it firmly rejects what it calls an “outrageously provocative” report by the U.S.-based Human Rights Watch (HRW) on atrocities committed by its troops in the English-speaking region of Northwest. Human rights watch published a report on Wednesday 11th of August accusing the Cameroonian military of destroying properties, executing civilians, and looting. Reacting to this report, the Cameroon Ministry of Defence  through Atonfack Guemo stated that,   “HRW is known for its loathing against the Cameroonian defense and security forces and its logic which consists in systematically attributing to the Cameroonian army the abuses… based on alleged testimonies distilled by secessionist terrorists,” “The defense and security forces remain unperturbed as they carry on their operations across the national territory with respect for human and peoples’ rights,” he added.

Nigerian Man Arrested In India For Drug Trafficking

  A 36-year-old  Okafor Eze Emmanuel from  Nigeria has been arrested by the Indian police in Kerala, over alleged drug trafficking  He was arrested on Wednesday the 24 of August after being nabbeed by a group of Indian police men led by  Ernakulam ACP P Rajkumar, comprising Inspector S Sanal, Sanip Kumar, Mahin Abubakar and Arun Surendran. The investigation began with the arrest of one Haroon Sultan, who was caught with 102.04 grams of MDMA at Kalur Worldwide Stadium Hyperlink Street on July 20, 2022.  After interrogating Haroon, the Palarivattam police arrested Alin Joseph, Niju Peter and Alan Tony.  Upon interrogation, the police acquired info that one Varghese Joseph, a local of Fort Kochi, who resided in Bengaluru was sending massive portions of MDMA. Details about the Nigerian national was obtained from him.  "He was hiding in Bangalore with a German lady. The arrest was made as part of a one-and-a half-moth operation,"  IPS Sasidharan, DCP of Kochi Police, said.  "

CELEBRATIONS IN CAMEROON

An  inauguration ceremony of the Head quarters of the Autonomous Sinking Fund took place today the 24th of August 2022, at the 20th May  boulevard in the capital of Cameroon Yaounde.  This ceremony was  attended by ministers and dignitaries  which was presided over by the prime minister of the Cameroon Dion Ngute .

Cameroon: Woman kills sister-in-law after being promised Money on social media

 A 57 years old woman by the name Marie France Mbea kills her sister-in-law in a hotel in the Biyem Assi neighbourhood in Yaounde after she was promised 500 million FCFA by an unknown person on Facebook  Marie France Mbea has been arrested and confessed that she had been talking with a stranger on Facebook who advised her to kill the sister-in-law in exchange for wealth.  According to her She lodged into the hotel with the sister-in law and used a beer bottle to hit her on the head and cut her throat. After killing she left the Hotel and  returned with a bag containing a machete the following day at around 10 pm. She then chopped the body into pieces and bundled them in the bag but the Hotel workers suspected something was wrong after they opted to help her carry the heavy bag But she refused. They had to alert the police when they discovered that she was carrying something too heavy for her and despite help advances made, she refused. Watch video bellow 

Two Ethiopian airways pilots fell Asleep and missed landing

The incident occurred in the skies over Africa on August 15, when an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft was flying from Khartoum to Addis Ababa. Aviation analyst Alex Maceras tweeted: “Deeply disturbing incident at Africa’s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines. Boeing 737 #ET343 was still at a cruising altitude of 37,000 feet by the time it reached its destination Addis Ababa. Why didn't he start descending for landing? Both pilots were asleep." Air traffic control attempted to contact the crew but was unsuccessful. They woke up only after the plane's autopilot, after an unsuccessful approach, turned off and gave an alarm. The pilots managed to make another approach and safely land the plane, which set off on the next flight two and a half hours later. Such incidents, due to pilot fatigue, are not so rare anymore. HUMAN TRAFFICKERS ARRESTED

 A gang of human traffickers were arrested in the capital city of Cameroon,Yaounde. It is said that the alleged gang of four were caught by the Gendarmerie brigade and they had in their possession human bones,skulls at the time of their arrest.  After thorough interrogation it was discovered that the line of human parts trafficking is a long chain and involves alot of people. Also, the alleged criminals said they got in to this line of business due to unemployment, poverty and also because selling human parts is in high demand and very expensive.

INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS LIVING IN HORRIBLE CONDITIONS DUE TO THE ANGLOPHONE CRISIS IN CAMEROON

 The crisis affecting the Northwest and South West Regions of Cameroon has led to alot of internally displaced person's in the economic capital of Cameroon Douala. Most of them are living in a deplorable condition and are seeking refuge at the Bonabome in the Douala four municipality.  They live in houses build on degraded mangrove area which is a death trap for inhabitants,the heavy winds, and water from the sea causes flood on daily basis. This horrible situation has caused alot of death and lost of properties to the inhabitants and a life filled of hard labour with no gain since the youths spend most of their time creating channels, digging holes for water. This said internally displaced person's are caught between living in these horrible condition or going back home to the armed conflict. Since most of their houses were burn,farms, businesses etc so they are force 

STRIKE CALLED OFF BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE MEDICAL AND SANITARY PERSONNELS

 The national union of medical and sanitary personnel's (synpems) and the national union of establishment in the health sector(cap Sante) has granted the Cameroon government to find lasting solutions to their problems. This was done by the president of synpems through a communique today the 16th of August 2022, calling off the strike which they had declared through out the national territory.  This communique states  that the unionist are thereby calling off the strike and giving the minister of health six months that is from today the 16th of August 2022 to the 31 of December 2022 to attend to their needs. But this action by the president of synpems has caused alot of rejection from some of these unionist who are not happy with the long time frame of action given by the president and are demanding for a period of four months to be given to the government.  They came out with placards at the ministry of public health in the capital city of Yaounde, Cameroon demanding for more human

SAWA TRADITIONAL RULERS MET TODAY FOR A PLANNING MEETING

 Today the 16th of August 2022,the Ngundo traditional assembly met in the economic capital of Cameroon, Douala to plan for the upcoming Sawa festival which is going to take place in December 2022. After due  deliberations,they came out with the theme of this year festival "Ngundambua Azi Sawo" meaning "love for fatherland" and the traditional rulers said the reason behind this theme is because of the socio political crisis some regions in cameroon are facing. This festival is a way of life for the Ngundo people or Sawa which always takes place every December of the year but for the last two years this festival has not been celebrated due to the out break of Covid-19.

Kenya had it's presidential election a week ago and the results are finally out today the 15th of August 2022. There were four presidential candidates and Williams Ruto emerged the winner of the election. So he is the new president of Kenya. Some supports of Railer Odinga who had the second highest votes have started protecting against the electorial results. Also in some districts this said protesters were stopped by the force of law and order with the use of tear gas.

Cameroon: Two Government Forces Ambushed and killed in the West Region

  Ambazonia fighters attacked and  killed two Cameroon soldiers in Magba, Noun Division in the West Region of Cameroon. The incident took place  on the night of August 13, 2022,  leading to the dead of a police inspector by name Adjomo and a soldier by name Kibam Idrissou. The two soldiers and a bike rider were ambushed  by the separatist fighters in Mbiame in Bui division killing the two soldiers and making away with their weapons and ammunition.

Cameroon;Muslim scholar and activist arrested in cameroon

Abdul Karim Ali is a Muslim scholar and a southern Cameroonian activist who has never seized in condemning the atrocities of the Cameroon government.  He was arrested yesterday the 11th of August 2022 at about 6:30am by the military forces and was taken to the prison at upstation Bamenda in the North west Region. Informations says his family has been denied access to see him so his welfare is uncertain and of paramount importance It is important to know that this is not the first time he has been arrested  by the military but was release due to the demand and resistance of some anglophone citizens and international community who pressured the government for his released.

Morocco to host 2024 WAFCON for the second time in a row

CAF has announced Morocco as the host of the 2024 Women African Cup of Nations for the second time in a row. Morocco which is a North African country hosted the last edition of WAFCON in July, which saw South Africa emerging as champions after beating Morocco 2-1 in the final. CAF announced Morocco as the host of the  tournament on Tuesday The decision comes as a surprise, though, as Morocco just finished hosting the 2022 edition. According to reports Morocco were granted the hosting rights after other African countries failed to submit a bid. Morroco is the only country to submit a bid, and as a result they were named automatic hosts.

MAN SLAUGHTERS LOVER'S THROAT

 A man whose name has be held visited his lover on the 09th of August 2022, at Buea in the South West Region of Cameroon. Which during this visit they got in to a heat argument only known by them. So the furious boy friend got his lover well beaten and cut her throat, locked her in the house and escaped. With the help of some neighbours the door was broken and the said lady was rushed to the hospital. Right now she is receiving medical attention and the forces of law and order are investigating the matter.

Her wonderful and breathtaking voice made her to be known as one of the biggest pop stars of the 70s. May her soul rest in peace and we wish the family peace and love.

POPULAR NIGERIAN ARTIST KISS DANIEL HAS BEEN ARRESTED

A popular Nigerian musician Kiss Daniel has been arrested by the Tanzanian police for boycotting a musical concert. It is said that he had a concert on the 06th of August 2022, but the artist did not show up on the fact that the aircraft carrying his luggage has not arrived, so he cannot perform without his dresses. The organizers of the concert bought him new dresses but he declined. He was therefore arrested.    It should be noted that the organizers are claiming that they have spent more than $300000 to organize the said show. This action has stirred lots of anger from his fans as some even complained that he is fun of not respecting his fans and has been noted for not keeping to time during his concerts

A WOMAN GIVES REASON FOR ENGAGING IN TO DRUG TRAFFICKING

 A mother of three kids by name Jatau   Lydia Lami , 35 years of age who was arrested on Sunday the 31st July 2022 by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for drug trafficking has today said the motive behind her engaging in to drugs was to  raise N5m as  ransom to pay bandits. She was arrested  at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, for attempting to export 1,700 tablets of Tramadol 225mg concealed in her luggages to Istanbul, Turkey through Turkish Airline flight.           The suspect hails from Zango in Kaduna State, Nigeria and lives in Istanbul, Turkey with her family. The NDLEA spoke person, Femi Babafemi, said in a statement on Sunday 07th  August 2022, stated that the suspect blamed her action on pressure to raise N5million ransom to free her mother from the captivity of bandits who kidnapped her since June. .

Horniman Museum in London to return 72 looted artefacts back to Nigeria

  Horniman Museum in London  agrees to return a looted collection of 72 treasured artefacts, including 12 Benin Bronzes, back to Nigeria. These artefacts were stolen from Nigeria by British troops in 1897, the artefacts will be transferred to the Nigerian government. on August 5, the chairwoman of the Trustees of the Horniman Museum and Gardens in Forest Hill, south-east London,  Eve Salomon , said, “The evidence is very clear that these objects were acquired through force, and external consultation supported our view that it is both moral and appropriate to return their ownership to Nigeria.” This comes after the Nigeria’s National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) asked that the artifacts be returned in January 2022.

She is actually in comma and the husband who is a Barrister by profession, Mr. Akabum Watson is in bad shape. He is in the hospital taking some treatment. This incident occurred on the 05th of August 2022, at Bonaberi. We are hoping the family recovers from this......

Nigerian court sentence man to death by hanging for killing job seeker.

  An Akwa Ibom State High Court has sentenced Uduak Akpan to death by hanging for the murder of Iniubong Umoren. Justice Bassey Nkanang of the state High Court has the verdict on Thursday. Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo, was raped, killed, and buried in a shallow grave on April 2021. She was job hunting while awaiting mobilization for the compulsory NYSC scheme. Akpan lured the 26 years old girl to his house claiming he had a job offer for her. Akpan attempted to escape shortly after the sentence was announced by the trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang, on Thursday.

Military government in Mali accuse French President Emmanuel Macron of having a “neo-colonial” attitude.

  The military government in Mali has accused French President Emmanuel Macron of a “neo-colonial, paternalistic and condescending” attitude. The official statement was released by the government spokesperson Colonel Abdoulaye Maiga on Mali’s state TV and radio station ORTM and posted to the station’s Facebook page. The junta asked Mr. Macron to stop his criticism of the Malian army and stirring “ethnic hatred”. It follows Mr. Macron’s remarks last week during his tour in West Africa that regional states had the responsibility to ensure Malian people can “express the sovereignty of the people”. Mr. Macron also criticized the deployment of Russian mercenaries in Mali – which Mali denies. The transition government demands President Macron definitely abandon his neo-colonial, paternalistic and condescending stance.
