NIGERIA ELECTION 2023; BASED ON COMPETENCE OR RELIGIOSITY

With the presidential election in Nigeria having less than 8 months to go, if one thing can be said about the election in Nigeria, one can say that African youths are beginning to realize the importance of being involved in the governance and running of state affairs. With the enthusiasm that the youths are putting into encouraging others to register and get their permanent voters card (PVC), one can say without fear that change me be coming to Nigeria.

Africa’s largest country with a population of about 200 million people have been in past years suffered from so much insecurity in the North caused by the jihadi group Boko Haram not forgetting the farmer’s grazers' problems and also banditry which is at an increase. President Muhammadu Buhari has been criticized by most Nigerians for failing to provide security to most Nigerians and also to stop the Boko Haram attacks in the North which was why most Nigerians actually voted for him.

The main presidential aspirant Bola Tinubu representing the All Progressive Congress (APC), Peter Obi representing the Labor Party (LP)  and  Atiku Abubaka representing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Most politicians have recently described Nigeria as a religious country by most politicians, thus posing the question of whether Nigerians are going to vote for someone who is competent or would vote by religious line.
