Nigeria: Many feared dead as building collapses in Lagos

Many people were feared dead after a building in the Onipanu area of Lagos State collapsed in the early hours of Wednesday.

The affected building is said to be at Oke Arin street, off Shyllon Ilupeju. The incident reportedly happened at about 1.07 am on Wednesday.




It was gathered that this incident happened barely two weeks after a church building under construction collapsed opposite Number 17, Cardoso Street, off Martins Street in Mushin.


The Onipanu incident was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu.

“The Alpha Cobra team of Lagos State Emergency at Onipanu En route Oke Arin street off shyllon Ilupeju.” He said. It is not clear the number of casualties recorded in the latest incident.
